"Our" House in Hanalei

Here's what I saw from the lanai (deck) this morning, overlooking our front street. We face to the west, so turning left to look north east:

And then just right of that, due north:

Then rotating to look across the street:

And finally looking down the street to the ocean at the end of the block

As you can see, the place is just stunning. Those deeply-carved, sharp-edged cliffs in the mountains are familiar to anybody who's a regular viewer of "Lost" or has seen the "Jurassic Park" movies. This is Hollywood's go-to location for tropical paradise and slightly alien-looking beauty. Kauai is geologically the oldest of the Hawaiian islands and the hills show the deeper erosions.

Today's a Quiet Day, we've been travelling for the last two, giving Connie a migraine to get over, and we're due for some beach time, and some strolling around downtown Hanalei (which takes fifteen minutes) to try out both of the coffee shops. Last night we dined in what might be the premier restaurant, Kalypso's, and dug into what we hope will be an extravaganza of seafood over the next few weeks.
